Past Findings - “Unworn Clothing”
Staring back from the rack, colors ablaze. My skin falls into your comforting touch. Like a ballerina on a spindle, I twirl in the mirror, examining each and every angle of your presence on my being. Something about you speaks to me, so like a potential lover in a drunken haze, I take you home. This time, I know it will work.
As the days and occasions pass, your uncertainty lies in each extraction from the closet. Lying on my bed, patiently waiting your turn, off the hanger and onto my body. Once again, the ballerina emerges, yet her performance is lacking. Chance for stardom quickly fades and back into the closet you go.
What is it that will not allow me to set you free? Outings not yet conceived. That one perfect moment in time where the light will shine and all will see. Complements flowing like water returned with a humble smile and thank you. Victory. Too many previous pieces let go before their time arrived, only to be met with regret when that day finally came.
Back into the closet.
Wait patiently for your turn.
